East Northport Remembers 9/11
September 11th, 2001 marked histories deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. Almost three thousand people lost their lives, in three coordinated attacks. Those lost included 343 firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers. East Northport has continually vowed to “Never Forget” that tragic day or the lives lost.
This year, the members of the East Northport Fire Department, along with members from neighboring Fire Departments, the FDNY, and our community, will come together to remember the attacks and pay tribute to the lives lost.
This year’s morning ceremony will commence on September 11th at 9:45 am at ENFD Headquarters located at 1, 9th Avenue in East Northport. There is also a candle light vigil at 8:00 pm at the same location.
Led by ENFD Capt Brian Hinton, Ex-Capt Bob Sagistano and Lt. Frank Giovinco, the ceremonies involve the following:

Moments of silence to honor those lost

A reading of all the names of those lost in the 9/11 attacks

Prayers led by Dept Chaplain Charlie Murray

Sounding of the fire department siren to commemorate the times of the attacks

An address by Chief of Department

Songs by the Northport High School "Tights"

A 21 gun salute by Marine veterans.

Playing of "Amazing Grace" by the pipe and drum corps

Release of 13 white doves
The ENFD encourages everyone to always remember and continue to pay tribute to the brave men and women who lost their lives in the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
